Article 16 – Nationality – Extradition

(1) German nationality may not be revoked. Loss of nationality may occur only pursuant to a law and, against the will of the person concerned, only if this does not render the person stateless.
 
(2) No German may be extradited to a foreign country. A different regulation may be provided by law for extraditions to a member state of the European Union or to an international court, provided that the principles of the rule of law are respected.
